Standard AEB Expected for Select 2018 Nissan Models

Safety is essential, which is why Nissan plans to make automatic emergency braking (AEB) standard on eight vehicles for model-year 2018.

What's so exciting about AEB?

Automatic emergency braking helps to prevent accidents and keep you safe.

The AEB system senses your speed and proximity to the car in front of you and gives you alerts if you need to slow down to avoid hitting it. If you don't respond, the brakes will automatically engage to help you reduce the effects of an accident or avoid one entirely.

The Japanese automaker cited the 2018 Sentra, Altima, LEAF, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Murano, and Pathfinder as the upcoming models to get the standard AEB treatment.

A number of other automakers are also working on standard AEB for some vehicles, but many of them have a 2022 goal while Nissan's plans are slated to come to fruition soon in 2018.
