Signs Your Brake Pedal Needs to be Repaired

The proper pressure on your vehicle’s brake pedal is a key component to overall safe handling and performance. The pedal should feel like it has the ability to not only stop the car, but it should also assure you that it can hold the vehicle in place. If it has started feeling soft, there could be one of several factors causing it. The solution is to have your brakes serviced as soon as you can.

One of the most common occurrences is air in the brake lines. If this has happened, it’s created a blockage that’s stopped the brake fluid from flowing. The fluid contained in the lines provides the pressure the parts need to move and perform their jobs. This may simply require bleeding the lines. If, however, a leak has been discovered in the lines, at the caliper, or pads, that will need to be assessed accordingly. What frequently happens is the parts wear out and rust over time. A piece of rust could be either causing a blockage, or it’s created a leak.
