Blockage in the Exhaust

Combustion produces a range of dangerous and toxic gases. These gases are released when the cylinders open and are directed into the catalytic converter. The gases are converted to less harmful chemicals inside the converter and then pushed through the exhaust system to exit the tailpipe. Damage to the tailpipe or any blockage in the exhaust will cause serious engine problems.

If the gases can’t exit your vehicle, they flow back into your engine. They increase pressure in the engine, which can cause misfiring, stalling, or force your engine to shut down. If the exhaust is clogged, your engine might even shut down seconds after it starts as the accumulated gases prevent it from working. We’ll remove any blockage or replace damaged exhaust sections to fix this problem.

Black Exhaust Smoke

Black exhaust smoke is a sign your engine is dumping large quantities of unburnt fuel into the exhaust system. This can be caused by a blocked air filter, which restricts the amount of air in your engine. If the engine has insufficient air, much of the fuel in the fuel-air mixture won’t burn. This hot, unburnt fuel is dumped from the cylinders into the catalytic converter.

Basic Coverage

This warranty covers most of your Nissan’s systems and applies for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. If any system or component covered by this warranty fails to work correctly or is defective in any way, it will be repaired or replaced using Nissan-approved parts at no charge. Coverage extends throughout the United States and Canada, provided your vehicle is registered in the US.

Certain situations are exempt from coverage, including accidental damage, damage caused by unauthorized modifications, normal wear and tear, and improper maintenance. These excluded situations are detailed in your warranty handbook.

Powertrain Coverage

The powertrain consists of your engine, transmission, and drivetrain. It also includes your transaxle and restraint system. Like the basic warranty above, there are some exceptions to coverage, which are explained in your warranty. All components in the systems in this warranty are protected against any unforeseen manufacturing issues for five years or 60,000 miles.

Corrosion Protection

Metal is very susceptible to rust and corrosion, and all the metal panels and sections in your vehicle are specifically protected against this threat. The metal sections are covered in a protective coating during the production process, and this protection does not need to be renewed. If corrosion appears anywhere on your Nissan despite this protection, the affected panel will be replaced at no cost. Corrosion protection applies for five years and unlimited mileage.

Service Adjustment Coverage

Service adjustments are any adjustments made to your vehicle that don’t require replacing parts. They include wheel alignment, balancing, drive belt tensioning, and other corrective issues. Any adjustments necessary will be performed at no charge for the first year or 12,000 miles.

California Vehicle Emissions Control Warranty

The California emissions standards are followed here in Pennsylvania, and they are more stringent in emissions reductions than the Federal emissions requirements. Almost all components and systems in the emissions control system are protected against any defects for three years or 50,000 miles. Certain systems, like the catalytic converter, have enhanced coverage that applies for seven years or 70,000 miles.
